James Harris, Jr.
James Ray Harris, Jr., 65, of Hattiesburg, passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 1:30 – 3 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg with services immediately following at 3 p.m.
James was born on July 9, 1960, to James Ray Harris, Sr. and Mary Lucille Harris. He was a graduate of Forrest County Agricultural High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned degrees in Motion Film Production and Restaurant Management. While at USM, he was a proud member of the Pride of Mississippi marching band.
Following his studies, James managed several restaurants across the Southeast. He will be fondly remembered for his remarkable storytelling, quick wit, and his deep knowledge of history, which he loved to share with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ray Harris, Sr. and Mary Lucille Harris.
He is survived by his two sisters, Kimberly Harris of Brooklyn and Brenda Holloway of Lucedale.
