Jack Sangster

1946 – 2025

It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Jack Sangster.

Jack was predeceased by his mother Mary, father Red, sister Barbara, and sister Sandra. He leaves to mourn his sister Brenda (and her husband, Jack’s best friend Keith); nephew Chad (Cole, Payton [Paul], and Camryn); brother-in-law Peter; brother-in-law Barry; niece Dena; and nephew Ryan (Annabelle).

Jack coached in the MJHL,AJHLand WHL from 1974 to 1986. He coached the Portage Terriers (1974), the Thompson King Miners (1977) the Taber Goldon Suns ( 1978), the Regina Pats (1980), the Seattle Breakers (1981, 1982) and the Brandon Wheat Kings (1984,1985). Jack then moved back to Thompson and was employed by Clarica up to his retirement. He also resumed his earlier passion of playing, coaching the Thompson Reds Baseball Team to 2018. Jack also coached the Nelson House Flames. He was inducted into The Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame with the Thompson Reds in 2003 and inducted into The Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame with the Thompson Hawks in 2022.

Jack spent the last seven years at Riverview Personal Care Home which he called “home”. He served on their Board of Directors as Representative for the Residents on 3 East Special thanks to all the staff who went above and beyond to ensure Jack was comfortable and well cared for especially during his final days. Your compassion and support meant so much to our family.

In accordance with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal funeral service. A private celebration of life will be held next summer with immediate family
