It’s naming time, Carson City: Send in your suggested names for the Community Art Building on Roop Street
- September 12, 2025

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department (CCPROS) invites all residents interested in naming the building located at 801 N. Roop St. to respond to a survey with proposed nominations or to provide additional suggestions.
The building is utilized by the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department’s Arts & Culture Program for art classes, art camps, and art workshops.
The survey is available now at carson.org/arts and will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2025. A recommendation to name the property will go to the Carson City Board of Supervisors for approval and adoption.
The policies and procedures suggest that proposed and adopted names should have geographic, topographic, historical, or individual significance, generally recognized throughout the area.
Names submitted for individuals (living or deceased) should be those who have contributed greatly to the community or are appropriate to the function of the facility to be named. For a person’s name to be considered, a detailed resume and justification must be submitted in writing.
For additional information or questions, please contact Anna Freeman at afreeman@carson.org or (775) 283-7867.
