Irene, a loving wife and mother, passed peacefully after a lengthy health battle.

Irene was the last of 5 total siblings of her generation. She is lived on by her son, Marc DeMelo, daughter-in law Shannon Erickson DeMelo and handfuls of cousins, nephews and nieces.

She posthumously joins her husband of 55 years, Alfredo DeMelo and her immediate family of siblings Guston, Roland, Anita and Lynn LaFrance, as well as her parents Amadee(LaFrance) and Eugenie (LeTourneau).

Born in Rhode Island and raised with her family, she met Al, married and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1963, where she stayed until Al’s passing in 2019. After which, she relocated to join her son and daughter in law in Scottsdale, Arizona until her passing.

She worked as a lab technician and pathology aid at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, Ca until she left the role in 1977 once her son was born. She was a stay at home mom after then and aided her husband in the family real estate business.

Her loves- The Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants. She loved penny slots at the casinos. She was a history and science lover. She loved singing for decades next to her husband in the church choir. She loved animals and cherished all the dogs that came across her life. A sucker for sweets and great seafood and a coffee from Dutch Brothers.

We are happy she is now reunited with her husband and family and there is no more suffering.Godspeed, Irene will be missed.
