Imogene Mary Murphy Sweet, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 92 in Saluda, North Carolina. Born on June 5, 1933, in New York, she was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Imogene cherished spending time with her family. Her home was always filled with laughter and love, shared with her family. Imogene’s devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she found immense joy in watching her family grow and thrive.

A member of the Pole Creek Baptist Church in Candler, North Carolina, Imogene drew strength from her faith and community. Her kindness and generosity were cherished by all who had the privilege to know her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and unwavering love for those around her.

Imogene was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Ronney Sweet; her parents, Winfred Albert Murphy and Mary Pauline Sipos Murphy; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Perdue. She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her daughter, Teri Huntsinger (Tony); her son, Mike Sweet (Robin); her cherished grandchildren, Cherie Davis (Tracy), Mary Sweet, Caroline Sweet, Rebecca Robinson (Jared), Rachel Fomby (Michael), and James Miller; as well as 12 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Imogene’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Thurman officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at a later date.

Imogene Mary Murphy Sweet’s legacy of love and devotion continues to inspire all who knew her. Her passing leaves a profound void, yet her spirit endures in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.

Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Shuler Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.
