Ida Fiumara

Ida K Fiumara, of New Rochelle, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday January 25, 2025. She was 87 years old, born on March 22, 1937, to Anna and Giuseppe Fiumara, and was a lifelong resident of New Rochelle. A loving sister and friend, she is survived by her sister Katherine Fiumara of New Rochelle, and brother Henry (Karen) Fiumara of Cary, NC. and nieces Christina (Jay) Newport, Cary, NC, and Jennifer (Adam) McDonald, Kansas City, Mo. along with 4 grandnieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Good Council College (BA) and SUNY New Paltz (MA) and established a career as an elementary school teacher in East Islip, New York, where she taught for 32 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed reading and became involved with volunteer activities in the local community, serving with the Senior Personnel Placement Bureau, assisting with AARP tax preparation services, tutoring English for adults, and providing delivery services for Meals on Wheels. She will be greatly missed for her warmth and caring. A Mass will be held on Thursday, January 30, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in New Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
