Hilde Schiavo

Hildegard “Hilde” Schiavo, a beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend passed away on June 2, 2025 at the age of 87.

Hilde was born in Germany on February 20, 1938 to Mathilde and Otto Oesterle.

Hilde met the love of her life, Gennaro “James” Schiavo, while he was stationed in Germany with the United States Army. They married on February 1, 1956. She then moved to the Bronx, New York and became a citizen of the United States.

Hilde loved entertaining and was the most gracious hostess. She had the biggest heart and unwavering strength. She was a devoted NY Giants and NY Yankees fan.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Schiavo, her two sisters in Germany, many nieces and nephews, along with very dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents, and many siblings.
