Hetty Meade

Hetty Irene Meade, 88, of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, 13 August, at her home on Mikes Branch. She was born on 13 September 1936 in Pike County, the daughter of Harrison and Jane Lowe Meade.

In addition to her parents, Hetty was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene, John, and Irvin Meade as well as three sisters: June, May, and Betty Meade Daniels.

Hetty graduated from Johns Creek High School in 1954 and continued to live on Mikes Branch where she remained her entire life.  Though she did not marry, Hetty was an important part of many people’s lives including her many nieces and nephews and their children. She had a special relationship with her niece Patsy Meade (Dewey) Blackburn and several others including nephew Ricky (Barbara) and Edward “Grey” (Karen) Daniels and their two sons.  Hetty leaves behind many other family and friends to mourn her passing.

Hetty was a strong and independent woman who always put her family and friends first. She enjoyed gardening and spent much of her time outdoors. But when the work was done, she was ready to have fun from exploring the nearby hills & hollows to decorating with homemade crafts.

Hetty I. Meade will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
