Helen Marie Dulle 84, of Springfield, died at 8:40pm, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital. She was born April 25, 1941, in Shipman, IL, to Joseph Thomas and Luella Schaefer Johnson. She married Herbert J. Dulle on June 9, 1971, and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2022.
Survivors include her three brothers, Charles (Norma June) Johnson, Richard Johnson and Kenneth (Margaret) Johnson all of Bunker Hill, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one brother, Joe Johnson.
Helen retired from Sacred Heart Griffin where she served as volleyball coach for thirty-three years. She was the Hall of Fame inductee for the Illinois High School Association, who at one time was the winningest coach in Illinois. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was a member of Springfield Sports Hall of Fame and Bunker Hill Wall of Honor. She was an undergraduate and received her master’s degree from SIU Carbondale.
Helen’s pallbearers will be her family members and honorary pallbearers will be the alumni volleyball coaches and players from Sacred Heart Griffin.
Visitation: 4-6 pm, Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Lie-in-State: 9-10:30 am, Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Saints Simon & Jude Church in Gillispie, IL.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Saints Simon & Jude Church in Gillispie, with Reverend Charles Edwards, officiating. Burial will follow at Woodburn Cemetery in Bunker Hill, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Griffin Volleyball Program.
