Gloria Edwards

Gloria June Edwards, age 87 of Yorkville, IL passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 17, 2025. She was born on May 29, 1937 in Harriman, TN the daughter of Arvil and Jessie Katherine (Harvey) Bryant.

Gloria was united in marriage on January 6, 1956 to the love of her life Mr. Garland Edwards and they spent the next 69 years happily together. Mrs. Edwards was an employee of the Waubonsee Book Store in Sugar Grove, IL for many years. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. In her free time, Gloria enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, and going to garage and estate sales. But mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play sports.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Garland Edwards of Yorkville, IL; her sons, Greg (Cindy) Edwards of Montgomery, IL and Ken (Patty) Edwards of Bristol, IL; her grandchildren, Amanda (Greg) Volmert, Derek (Amanda) Edwards, James (Natalie) Edwards, and Mitchell (Delia) Edwards; her great-grandchildren, Ella, Sophia and Caleb.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Katherine Bryant.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 22, 2025 in the Emery Heights Cemetery in Harriman, TN.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Devine Hospice and Palliative Care or the charity of donor’s choice.

Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the Hour of Service on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
