Bruce Kimelblatt

Dr. Bruce Jay Kimelblatt of Belle Mead, NJ died peacefully at his home on Friday, May 16, 2025 after a battle with cancer. Born in New York, NY, Bruce was a resident of Belle Mead for over 30 years and grew up in Brooklyn. Bruce was highly educated as a clinical pharmacist, pharmacologist, and pharmacokineticist. He was a graduate of Columbia College of Pharmacy, received his Doctor of Pharmacy at University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy, and obtained his MBA in finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Bruce retired in 2016, after working in retail pharmacies, and then as a Doctor of Pharmacy for Mt Sinai Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital for over a decade. He then transitioned to working at Johnson and Johnson for nearly 29 years where he worked in both marketing and clinical research to develop life-changing cancer medications, a bitter irony, in addition to various other therapeutic areas.

Following his retirement from J&J, Bruce continued to teach and mentor countless students at University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy as an admissions committee member and was also an adjunct associate professor at Rutgers University Ernest Mario College of Pharmacy, and volunteered for the Somerset County Medical Reserve Corps.

Bruce is survived by his wife Carol N. (Lander) Kimelblatt of almost 48 years, his daughter Sarah J. DeVries, and his granddaughter Charlotte A. DeVries, as well as his deeply loved cats Sammy and Zeke. He is predeceased by his beloved son David J. Kimelblatt, and his parents Joseph and Harriet (Zuckerman).

In addition to his incredible intelligence, he had a kind and loving heart and sense of humor, a rare combination. He was one of a kind. He loved animals of all kinds, fast cars, good music, classic movies, pastrami sandwiches, and his family and friends, not necessarily in that order.

We will be celebrating his life on Monday, May 19th. The funeral services will take place at Cedar Park & Beth El Cemeteries.

At the cemetery, there will be a service in the Chapel at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah Mausoleum beginning promptly at 11:30. Please arrive by 11:00 am. The burial will then follow. More information about directions, etc, can be found here: https://www.cedarparkbethelcemeteries.com/about/chapel/

Shiva will take place at Bruce and Carol’s residence from 4-8 pm on May 19th as well.

In lieu of flowers/gifts, donations can be sent to SAVE – A Friend to Homeless Animals here: https://give.savehomelessanimals.org/fundraising/forms/J3D7WPDN, which is an organization close to my dad’s heart.

Thank you to all who loved him. May his memory be a blessing.
