Gerald “Jerry” Vitagliano, age 82, of Hartsdale, New York, passed away on August 17, 2025.
Born on May 25, 1943, in Brooklyn, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Louis Vitagliano and Catherine Aversano, and the cherished brother of Loraine and Joseph. He grew up surrounded by a close-knit family of cousins, helping out in his father’s butcher shop, and creating lifelong memories in his Brooklyn neighborhood.
Jerry graduated from New Utrecht High School and became an electrician in 1962, a profession he took great pride in. He loved fishing, spending time on Coney Island, and sharing laughter with his many friends and loved ones.
In 1979, Jerry proposed to Harlee, and together they built a beautiful life full of love, laughter, and adventure. Over their 40 years together, they raised Michele and Kenny, traveled the world—visiting Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Mexico, and more—and ran Harlee’s Playroom, a space that brought joy to many.
Jerry and Harlee were also passionate animal lovers, often surrounding themselves with beloved pets. Their home was always open—to both people and animals—and filled with warmth, humor, and unconditional love.
Jerry is survived by his son, Kenneth Maglio; his niece and nephew, Jana and Cory Taglianetti; and his beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Paul Bottari. He is also remembered fondly by extended family and countless friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Harlee, his daughter Michele, his parents, and his siblings, Loraine and Joseph.
Those who knew Jerry will remember his contagious laugh, big heart, and the way he made every moment a little brighter. His joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever loved.
