Gerald L. “Jerry” Schuler, age 83, of Plymouth, WI, passed away on July 12, 2025, at Woodland Court Elder Care in Merrill, WI.
He was born in Plymouth on March 20, 1942, son of the late Howard and Marcella (Kattreh) Schuler. Jerry graduated from Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School in 1960.
On September 21, 1968, he married Sharon Doebert. They resided their entire married life in Plymouth. They raised their family in a house that Jerry and Sharon built together, brick by brick.
In his earlier years he worked for Don Mullen Excavating, before running his own business, Schuler’s Auto Body, which he ran for decades until retiring.
Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, woodworking, and trap-shooting – winning the state championship in 1966. He also enjoyed operating heavy machinery, being with his grandchildren and watching his granddaughters horse shows. He was a quiet man who loved to just sit on a bench and people watch.
Jerry loved traveling with Sharon throughout the years. He especially loved their trips to Branson and visiting the Roy Rogers Museum. He always wore a cowboy hat when going out, because deep down, Jerry was a cowboy at heart. He loved horses and missed the farm life of his youth.
Survivors include: Three children: Brenda (Eric) Knutson of Waldo, David (JoBeth) Schuler of Appleton, Ginger (Brad) Kanitz of Merrill; Seven grandchildren: Amber and Caitlyn Knutson, Trinity, Logan, and Brady Kanitz, and Bodhi and Tristan Schuler; Special Niece: Tracy (Mike) Stauber and their children, Josh and Jordan; Brother, Roger Schuler; Brothers-in-law: Gerald Doebert and Larry (Judy) Doebert; Family Friend, Diane Borgen; As well as many honorary grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: His loving wife, Sharon; Parents, Howard and Marcella Schuler; Parents-in-law, Marlin and Dorothea Doebert; and Sisters-in-law: Bonnie Schuler and Joyce Doebert.
A graveside service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on Friday (July 25, 2025) at 2:00pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
The family would like to send special thanks to: The staff of Woodland Court Elder Services and the staff of Aspirus Hospice; for the wonderful care and compassion given to Jerry.
