Gerald N. “Gary” Hoffman, age 60, passed Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at his home.

On August 15, 1964 Gary was born in Cardington, Ohio. The son of the late Lloyd and Nancy (Lavender) Hoffman. Gary attended Cardington High School and earned a Welding Certification from Tri-Rivers Career Center. After high school, Gary moved to Caledonia after marrying his late wife, Kathy. Gerald worked for Glen-Gery Caledonia Plant for over 30 years. Gerald continued his career at Yutaka Technologies in Cardington.

He was so proud of his patent on an electric fishing pole he invented. He had a sharp technical mind, He enjoyed “tinkering”‘ any chance he got.

Gary loved food, but hated cooking, which often resulted in texting his daughters asking for any leftovers. Pepsi and Reese’s cups was always his go to snack, but nothing beats a Marlboro Red and ice-cold Bud Light.

Out of everything and everyone in the world Gary, also known as “Grump” if you asked grandkids, cherished them more than anything. With, Wade “Boy” and Winnie being his favorite. The grumpiest grandpa, that loved them the absolute best he knew how.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters: Shawna (Nick) Taylor and Laurie Hoffman; grandchildren: Wade Taylor and Winnie Taylor; siblings: Vickie (Danny) Cochran, Paula Sparks, Halen (Rick) Connor, Mary Hoffman, Wayne (Sherry) Hoffman, Lisa Slane, Tracy (Jim) Haga, Jenny (Shane) Ocheltree; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gary was preceded in death by his siblings: Jimmy Hoffman and Laurie Hoffman.
