George Lee Addington
Born: March 16, 1951 — Died: September 15, 2025
George had an infectious laugh and is loved by many generations near and far.
He was born at Dayton Memorial Hospital, Dayton, TX, to John and Alma Lee George Addington. George lived in Pt. Arthur, Nederland, Orange, and finally settled in Dayton where he graduated from Dayton High School in 1969.
George loved people. He served Liberty County’s police departments, including the Sheriff’s Office, Dayton PD, and was chief of Kenefick PD in the late 80s and early 90s, and for 32 years as a volunteer fireman for Dayton VFD. George also worked for many years for Liberty County Pct. 4 as a mechanic following his law career.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Alma Lee George Addington; brothers, Johnny, Gene and Lloyd; daughter, Angela; granddaughter, Stormie.
George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Harrington Addington; sons & daughters-in-law: Curtis and Carol Ann Addington, Glen and Shannon Addington; sister Lela Holley; grandchildren: Shelbie, Kaitlyn and Kendal Addington, Kacie O’Donnell, Jami and Joey Aten; nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He loved: God, family, hunting, BBQing, helping others—he would literally give you the shirt off his back.
People would kid him & they all would laugh—He loved frying fish. Somebody would say, “That fried fish from Hartz sure is good.”
For those who desire, donations may be made to the Dayton Vol. Fire Department, American Cancer, or organization of choice.
