Franklin McCauley

Franklin Delano McCauley was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2025. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 10, 1936 to the late Chester McCauley and Viola Elizabeth McCauley. He attended Turtle Creek High School in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania.
Franklin enlisted in the United States Army 1957 and was honorably discharged 1959 receiving a Decorated Good Conduct Medal. As a young man, Franklin united in marriage to his former wife, the late Alberta Gilcrease McCauley. Two wonderful children were born to the union, the late Pamela Vee McCauley-Williams and Franklin Delano McCauley, Jr. He was employed by the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA until his retirement.
As a youngster and into his adulthood, Franklin was a member of Holiday Memorial AME Zion Church, Braddock, PA and later, he attended the St. Stephens AME Zion Church in Branford, CT.
Franklin enjoyed playing bingo, dominoes and checkers, and watching his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. He was very artistic and a few of his pictures were on display at the New Haven Art Gallery. While a resident at Tower Lane Assisted Living, he was crowned King of the “Senior Prom” event at age 80 .The family is thankful to our brother James McCauley of Newtown, PA who was Franklin’s care giver for 5 years before he moved to New Haven, CT and was cared for by his loving sister Ernestine McCauley-Browning for his remaining 20 years until his passing. She fondly nicknamed him “Old Soldier”.
Franklin leaves to cherish his memories, one son Franklin Delano McCauley, Jr.; two grandchildren, Kristen Brown and Krystopher Brandon Riley; six great-grandchildren, Isaiah Canterbury, Javon Brown, Ashanti Brown, Andre Kroz, Jace Russell, and Tayshawn Riley; two sisters, Ida R. Maloney and Ernestine E. McCauley-Browning (Jesse); two brothers, Rufus L. McCauley and James C. McCauley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Franklin was predeceased by his father, Chester McCauley; mother, Viola E. McCauley; sisters, Dorothy Irene Johnson and Willie Mae Richards; brothers, Darnell, Paul, David, Charles, Ralph, and Clifford; and daughter, Pamela V. Williams.
