Frank E. Kullberg Jr., age 83, of Shelton, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025 in Bridgeport Hospital. Frank was born September 26, 1941 in Bridgeport, son of the late Frank E. and Emily (Blersch) Kullberg Sr. and had been a lifetime area resident.
Frank was a retired Stratford firefighter and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a diehard fan of the New York Mets, New York Jets, and New York Islanders. He had hobbies, including fishing and duckpin bowling. He enjoyed his Dunkin coffee and never turned down a seafood meal. Musically, he enjoyed listening to polkas, played the drums and marched in Bridgeport PAL and New York Skyliners drum corps. He was also a dedicated band parent of all four of his children when they were in the Bunnell Marching Band and Color Guard. He enjoyed camping with his family at Prospect Lake in Massachusetts. He proudly carried the job title, “Chief Childcare Engineer,” after his retirement, to help care for his grandchildren and support them in their various activities.
Survivors include his four children, Laurie Crowther of Stratford, Karen (Michael) Marcinko of Shelton, Joseph (Ana) Kullberg of Prospect and Matthew Kullberg of Winter Springs, FL.; five grandchildren Emily (Tyler) Brisbee, Ian Crowther, Kaitlyn Marcinko, Kyle Marcinko and Adam Kullberg; one great grandson Hudson Brisbee; two sisters Patricia (Phil) Brothers, June (Steve) Andrejko; one brother Richard (Barbara) Kullberg, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert Kullberg.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. by meeting directly at St. James Church, 2110 Main Street, Stratford, CT followed by interment in Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, with full Military Honors. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford CT 06615.

Frank lived a selfless life through his actions in the U.S. Navy as well as a firefighter, one that was led with kindness, generosity and compassion and he will be forever missed.
