Francis Schlosser

Francis Schlosser, age 89, of Wexford, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025.

Francis was the beloved husband of Thelma Blasius Schlosser for a remarkable 64 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anna (Okal) Schlosser, and his brother, Joseph Paul Schlosser, of Raleigh, North Carolina. He leaves behind his sister, Dolores Vinski, of McCandless Township.

He was the loving father of Renee (Steven) Peters of Leesburg, Virginia, and Amy (Richard) Purdy of Moreland, Georgia. Francis was also a cherished grandfather to Andrew Peters, Erika (Westley) Corwin, Kara Purdy, and Benjamin (Kayleigh) Purdy.

Francis proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Bamberg, Germany, from 1955 to 1957. After his service, he continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Education in 1961 and a Master of Education from Duquesne University in 1963. He dedicated over 30 years to teaching science in various Pittsburgh Public Schools, retiring in 1990.

In his free time, Francis enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states. He also loved camping, fishing, and hunting. In retirement, he and his wife discovered geocaching, finding over 2,996 caches together.

No services are planned for Mr. Schlosser. He will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
