Fox Fry, 95, of Wayne, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025. Born on February 9, 1930, to H.F. and Georgia Perry Fry, Fox was the last surviving of their eight children. He was preceded in death by his brothers Julius C. Fry, Woodrow A. Fry, and Thurman F. Fry, and his sisters Lilly A. Lapay, Polly F. Vance, Frieda M. Korstange, and infant sister Opal. A proud veteran, Fox served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954, including two years in Japan during the Korean War, after graduating from Wayne High School and attending Marshall College. His career journey took him to San Salvador in 1958, where he contributed to the early space program with Pan American until a serious vehicle crash led to his departure. In 1963, Fox married Frances Scarberry Brown and became a loving stepfather to her sons, Rick Allan Brown, Stephen Anthony Brown, and Gary Gene Brown. Together, they welcomed two sons, Michael F. (Bonnie) Fry, and Samuel S. (Sharon) Fry, all of Wayne. He is also survived by his grandson Scotty (Taylea) Fry and great-grandsons Aden and Michael and great-granddaughter Aleena Fry, all of Wayne, as well as his daughter Vikki (Steve) Spitzley of Odessa Michigan. Frances preceded him in death in 1995. Fox dedicated many years to public service. He represented his community in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1976 to 1978. He continued to serve the state through his work with the West Virginia Department of Highways as a Personnel Officer and Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 1993. The family extends special thanks to Hospice and his daughter-in-law, Sharon, for her dedicated care during his final days. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Community Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Wayne, WV with Pastor Michael Dillon officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force and American Legion Post No. 93 of Kenova, WV. Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV is assisting the family with arrangements.
