A federal judge ordered the Trump administration must continue to fund SNAP during the ongoing shutdown as it has during every shut down in the programs 61-year history thus far.

The emergency order from U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani in Boston, Mass. ruled in favor of plaintiffs, including Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford.

The plaintiffs made up of Democratic officials in 25 states, petitioned the courts to compel the federal government to fund SNAP benefits while the stalemate in D.C. continues.

Simultaneously, U.S. District Judge John McConnell from Providence, R.I. also ordered the administration to utilize emergency funds for the November 1 payment for SNAP benefits.

Yesterday, the Nevada Interim Finance Committee met and approved $30 million in funding for local food banks, and $200,000 to the National Guard to help with boxing and distributing food across the state.
