Faye Poe

Faye Marie Mash Poe, age 86, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Poe was born on March 27, 1939, in Ashe County to the late Harry Mash and Alma Phillips Mash. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney Roosevelt Poe; two daughters, Cathy Poe and Sherry Poe; and two brothers, Bryce Mash and Curtis Mash.

She was a devoted member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. Faye enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening and mowing. She worked at Tyson for more than 21 years and was known for her strong work ethic. Above all, she was a devoted and loving mother whose family was the joy of her life.

She is survived by three sons, Howard Poe and wife Kathy of Laurel Springs, Paul Poe of Jefferson, and Shane Poe and his companion, Nicola of Wilkesboro; one daughter, Susan Mash and husband Michael of Wilkesboro; two sisters, Frances Perry and husband Gary of Wilkesboro, and Florence Miller of Glendale Springs; her special dog, Daisy; four grandchildren, Elaine Kearley  and husband Chris of Jefferson, Chris Poe and wife Stephanie of Arlington, VA, Heather Cox and husband Jonathan of West Jefferson, and Jessica McCombs and husband Chris of Michigan; eight great-grandchildren, Josiah Cox, Hope Cox, Faith Cox, Liam Poe, Anya Poe, Abbigal McCombs, Christopher McCombs, and Hailey McCombs; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Mitchell Mash officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00–2:00 p.m. on Saturday, two hours prior to the service.
