Ever wondered about Carson City’s small and scenic Treadway Park?

Carson Now reader Bob Custer Wilkie submitted the following photo and brief history on the small and scenic Treadway Park, located at 1110 N Minnesota St, Carson City.

Aaron (nicknamed Farmer) Treadway founded his scenic Treadway Park in Carson City, Nev., on his large private ranch. Treadway later opened a park area on his ranch to the public, as a picnic spot in the late 1800s.

Mr. Treadway was a pioneer Nevada businessman and rancher who began acquiring land in the area in the 1860s, and he was known for planting scores of trees in that area of Carson City.

The park is located near Division and Fleischmann. The smaller section of the park that is left is still a great place to  have a picnic.

Treadway Park is located near where the Virginia and Truckee  Railroad had a stop, and many people visited the park from both Reno and Virginia City.
