Elsa C. Kolofa, known to all as Elsy, was a beacon of laughter and love, a woman whose heart was as warm as her native Monterrey, Mexico, where she first graced the world on October 21, 1946. On August 4, 2025, she embarked on her final sunet ride in Bradenton, Florida, with her loving husband and daughter right by her side. After a brave unexpected battle with cancer, she leaves behind a legacy of style and a zest for life. Elsy’s life was an epic tale of love, family, and her faith. Before she became the superhero of motherhood, she dabbled in office jobs and daycare centers. But it was her role as a mom that truly defined her; she was the quintessential Girl Scout leader, the loudest cheerleader at every sports event, and the lunch lady with a heart of gold at St. Jude’s. She knew every kid’s name, ensuring not a single tummy rumbled with hunger under her watch, even if it meant bending the rules. Her laugh was the soundtrack of school hallways, and her cute accent was the signature that made her unforgettable. As a devout Catholic, Elsy’s faith was the compass by which she navigated life. She was a prayer warrior, a keyholder to the church chapel, and a living testament to the power of faith. Her prayers were powerful, covering everyone she loved with God’s grace. She embraced technology with the zeal of a millennial, mastering the art of iPad coloring and her texts and voicemails were like receiving a warm hug through the screen, filled with love, prayers, and the occasional hilarious gif that only Elsy could pick out. She always made sure to take pictures of everything and really mastered the selfie. Elsy’s zest for life was as vibrant as her ever-changing hair colors. From fiery red to royal purple, her hair was a canvas for her daughter, the world’s best hairstylist by default. Her fashion sense was legendary; she could match her shoes to her outfit with the style of a fashion designer for a New York runway. Elsy’s love for her daughter was the driving force behind her adventures, from shopping marathons to dancing with the stars, literally. Summers in Mexico were sacred, a time to reconnect with her roots and create core memories for her daughter. Elsy was a casino enthusiast, a sunset chaser in a Corvette, and a Christmas light aficionado. Her grand-dog Dino was pampered like royalty, and she made sure his water was as chilled as her sense of humor. Elsy’s bucket list was short and sweet, just like her. Riding a bike was a dream she never gave up on, so her husband, ever the romantic, gifted her a tricycle. She pedaled through the neighborhood like a kid at heart, spreading smiles as she went. Elsy leaves behind a constellation of family members, including her beloved husband James K. Kolofa, her cherished daughter Matty M. Kolofa, four sisters, and a fan club of nieces and nephews. She gets to hangout in heaven with not only her mom and dad but her loving sister that she missed so much. She was a woman who lived life in full color, who loved fiercely, and whose laughter was contagious. Elsy, you were truly one of a kind, and while we’ll miss your physical presence, we know that every beautiful sunset is you, healing our souls and reminding us to keep the faith, keep laughing, and always look your best. Godspeed, Elsy, Job well done, it’s your turn to rest beautiful angel
