Elmer Schulz

Elmer R. Schulz, age 100 of Faribault, died on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Riley Crossing Senior Living, Chanhassen.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Faribault on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military rites provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the services on May 2.

Elmer Richard, son of Frank and Anna (Schwichtenberg) Schulz, was born on September 13, 1924 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1941 and went on to attend Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. Elmer married Elsie Surovi on April 21, 1946 in Bethlehem, PA at St. John’s Slovak Lutheran Church.

Elmer was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served the Lord, his church and community in various capacities. He was employed as the General Manager for the Faribault Woolen Mill, retiring in 1987 after 46 years of service. Elmer had many interests but his favorite past time was spending quality time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his two sons, Larry (Mary Jo) Schulz of Victoria, Rev. Dr. Mark (Nancy) Schulz of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Jonathan (Kayla) Schulz of Lakeville, Rebekah Schulz of Minneapolis, Elizabeth (Adam) Boser of Chaska, Bethany (Jace) Pfannenstiel of Minneapolis; four great-grandchildren, Bennett Schulz, Nolan Schulz, Alexandra Boser, Claire Boser.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie in 2010; parents; sister, Viola Swee; one son, James Richard Schulz in 1957.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Radio Club or Three Rivers Community Action Meals on Wheels, all of Faribault.
