Eileen Salamon Wilson, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 26, 2025 in Texas.
Eileen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her loving husband, Roland James Wilson Jr.; son, Roland James Wilson III; loving grandchildren, Roland Joseph Wilson and Lorelei Katlynn Wilson; and brother, Eugene Salamon.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Eileen’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her community, her church, and her heritage.
Eileen was a woman of deep conviction, faith and dedication. Eileen was graced with a memorable private audience with Pope John Paul II, an experience that she cherished and spoke of with great reverence. Eileen’s passion for her faith was paralleled by her involvement in local politics, where she was an active member of the Stratford Democrats. Her thoughtful approach to civic engagement and her tireless efforts to better her community were hallmarks of her character.
As a dedicated fraternal association leader, Eileen was involved with many Slovak Catholic organizations and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada as an officer. Her leadership and commitment to these groups were not merely roles she fulfilled; they were part of who she was. Eileen was considered to be the matriarch of the greater Bridgeport area Slovak Catholics.
Eileen’s thoughtful gestures and kind words were a comfort to all who knew her. If someone was ill or suffered a loss, a handwritten note or card from Eileen would always offer words of encouragement. And whose spirits couldn’t be lifted with her kind delivery of delicious kolacky cookies.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Reginald Norman on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Stratford.
