Edward Miraglia

Edward (Butch) Miraglia of Somers passed away on September 8, 2025 with his family at his side. Ed was born in 1948, in Brooklyn to Ed and Rose Miraglia, and lived in College Point, until the family moved to Somers in 1991.

A graduate of Thomas Edison High School in Queens, he attended General Motors training school, worked for a dealership and then the NYC Dept. of Sanitation as a mechanic and supervisor. He served with the US Army from 1968 to 1970 and was honorably discharged as a SPC/5. Following retirement from his position in NYC in 2000, he went on to spend 17 years as a teaching assistant in the Tech Center at PNW BOCES. His reputation as a master mechanic was surpassed only by his role as instructor and mentor to the students in the automotive programs, retiring in 2018. From 2001 to 2022, Ed served in various roles leading a squadron of the Civil Air Patrol in Westchester. He also enjoyed playing softball, golf, and coaching sports teams for all his children.

Ed is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosemarie (Schultz), and children, Antoinette (Nicole), Alexandra (Shane), and Nicholas, his siblings Robert, Rose Macleod (Raymond), and Laura Miraglia, nephew, Robert (Angie), grandniece Emilia, sister-in-law Barbara Rosciglione (Antonio) and niece, Carolina. Ed’s family circle also includes many cousins from both the Miraglia and Suglia families.
