Carmen S. Garcia, November 20, 1949 – September 9, 2025. Carmen S. Garcia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on November 20, 1949, in Patillas, Puerto Rico, Carmen later made Chicago, Illinois her lifelong home. She was the cherished wife of Juan A. Arnau; loving mother to Luis A. Rosa, Carmen E. Rosa, and Anthony Arnau; proud grandmother to Crystal D. Rosa, Caleb A. Arnau, and Ethan A. Arnau; and adoring great-grandmother to Aniyah Serrano and Joziyah Serrano.
Carmen is survived by her brother Antonio Garcia and her sister Maria Garcia. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mario Garcia, Francisco Garcia, Emilio Garcia, and Julia Garcia.
A graduate of Tuley High School, Carmen went on to earn her associate’s degree at Central YMCA College and later pursued studies in biology and science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She dedicated her career to helping others as a medical assistant.
Faith was at the center of Carmen’s life. She was deeply involved in her church community and blessed many congregations with her beautiful singing voice. She especially loved performing traditional Puerto Rican music, a passion that reflected her culture and heritage. Above all, her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless memories filled with love and laughter. Carmen will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the warmth she gave to everyone she met. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her voice and her spirit.
Funeral prayers for Carmen will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 8:45 AM from Casey & Rios Funeral Home, 4540 West Diversey Ave., Chicago, IL 60639 proceeding to St. Aloysius Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM. Interment Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, IL. Visitation will begin on Friday, September 12th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
