Earl Noss, Sr.

Earl D. “Beany” Noss, Sr., 90, of Harrisburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2025, with his family by his side.

Born on November 8, 1934, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Harry and Gertrude (Walizer) Noss. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Earl served from 1952 to 1956, and was stationed in North Korea alongside his brother, Henry. As the years passed following his discharge, his patriotism was evident in the way he wore his Korean Veteran hat wherever he went. Earl had later been employed at the former Dauphin Manor Nursing Home for over 25 years until his retirement.

Over the years, Earl was a member of the American Legion, Steelton Italian Club, and the Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick in Harrisburg. His passion for life was contagious, and his innovative spirit shone particularly bright at Christmas. Earl was always coming up with crazy gift ideas for the grandchildren. Nobody ever knew what to expect and the grandchildren couldn’t wait to open their gifts – they were more excited about Pap’s gifts than any others. Earl always said his greatest achievement in life were his children and grandchildren. He left a wonderful legacy and happy memories, but the greatest of all was his love for his family.

Earl was a loving father to his children, Evon Gephart Treadway (James), Earl Noss Jr. (Angela), Robert Noss (Patti), and Ronald Noss (Toniann). His legacy extended to his 12 grandchildren, Heath, Todd, Kelly, Gina, Tonijean, RJ, Chad, Caleigh, Ava, Ronald, Zach, and Samantha, and 14 great-grandchildren, Reese, Drew, Olivia, Reagan, Emily, Evan, Connor, Ronan, Piper, Charlie Rose, Stevie, Maeve, and Hadley. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Doris (Rohrbach) Noss, on January 16, 2003 and his six brothers and five sisters.

The family is grateful to the staff of the Personal Care Unit at the Homeland Center for the comfort and care they provided to Earl.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for his viewing from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday July 8, 2025 at the Neumyer Funeral Home, Inc., 1334 North Second Street, Harrisburg, followed by his funeral service at 11:30 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will be in Shoop’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Homeland Center, Development Office, 1901 North Fifth Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102 or at https://homelandcenter.org.
