Dwight Abraham Smith peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on September 29, 2025, at Gilchrist Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born on September 9, 1950, to the late Rogers D. Smith Sr. and Gwendolyn N. Smith (née Williams). Dwight was the fifth of eight children—five sons and three daughters—and was affectionately known as “Pab.”
Raised in the Towson area, Dwight attended local schools, including Towson High School. After completing trade school, he began a career as a unionized roofer, a role he held until his retirement. In his later years, he worked as a driver for local transportation companies.
Dwight loved God, his family, and, in his own words, “dead presidents” (money). He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to watching and discussing the Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed spirited conversations about current events. Known for his dry wit and warm spirit, Dwight had a smile that could light up any room. A true foodie, he especially loved eating out at local favorites such as Pappas, Rosario’s, and Mission BBQ—and he never passed up a good crabcake.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Mesha (Ned) and Dajaun; four granddaughters; two great-grandsons; five siblings: Rogers III (Brenda), Roslyn, Keith, Gwendolyn (Anthony), and Tony; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Dwight was predeceased by his granddaughter Cierra, his sister Jennifer, and his brother Michael.
In accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dwight’s memory may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
