Douglas H. “Doug” Watkins, 80, of Glenmoore, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Brenda (Madiro) Watkins, sharing 34 years of marriage.
Born in Coatesville on April 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Eugene and Dorothy (Wilhelm) Watkins. Doug graduated from Scott High School with the class of 1963. He went on to work in the aviation industry and eventually retired as a fabricator from Sikorsky. In his younger years, he and his wife loved to dance, and they enjoyed fishing and boating on the North East River in Maryland. Doug was always keeping busy with yard work, woodworking and doing odd jobs around the house. He was a good cook and loved hot peppers. He always loved the animals that came into his life, and most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife Brenda is a son Brent Watkins, step-children Tim Sargent, husband of Jessie, and Kim Sharp, wife of Bill; grandchildren Amanda Kochel (Reese), Billy Sharp and David Sharp; brothers Barry Watkins (Laurie), David Watkins, and Brian Watkins (Mimi). He was preceded in death by his sisters Jean and Lynn.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11 AM at James J. Terry Funeral Home – Downingtown, 736 E Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Viewing will be from 9:45 – 10:45 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Doug’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
