Douglas McCarty

Mr. Douglas Leonard McCarty, age 77, of Creston, passed away Wednesday morning at his home.

He was born in Roanoke, VA, on April 1, 1948, to Leonard and Stella Sexton McCarty. Douglas was a kind and loving father and grandfather who cherished time with his family. He worked as a truck driver for the majority of his life, dedicating himself to providing for his loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. McCarty is survived by his two sons, Matthew McCarty of Roanoke, VA, and Michael Hudgins (Leslie) of Roanoke, VA; his two daughters, Lisa Osborne (Jamie) of Creston, and Shawn Wright (Steven) of Virginia; two brothers, Barry McCarty of Virginia and Steven McCarty of Florida; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his generous heart, his devotion to family, and the warmth he brought to everyone around him.
