Douglas Gerberding

Douglas Robert Gerberding, 68 passed away on July 30,2025 in his home in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born on June 9, 1957 in Elgin, Illinois to Robert and Donna (Barnes). He came to Az and worked in research and development; worked for himself as a draftsman and engraver; and most recently enjoyed model railroading, consulting, and building HO train layouts. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, loved traveling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his high school sweetheart Nancy (Martin), sons Gregory (Jasmine) and Daniel, daughters Karin Ribeiro (Ryan), and Emily, four grandchildren, Zoey, Alice, Scarlett, and Odinn, sisters Debbi (Wayne Springinsguth), Judy (Bob Drinkall), Teri (Bill Rosenberg), brother Andrew, stepmom Kathy Gerberding, 12 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews. 

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, August 9 at 2pm at North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, 11735 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale AZ 85254. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Scottsdale Model Railroad Historical Society (SMRHS), 14256 E Peak View Road, Scottsdale AZ 85262, by Zelle at 480-433-0290 to Doug, or there will be a basket for cards. We will be celebrating his love of life so feel free to wear bright colors. 

The celebration will be live streamed from the church, details to follow. There will also be a celebration in September in IL for family and friends who couldn’t make it to AZ.
