Dorothy Sede

Dorothy Ann Haith Sede, 76 years young, fell asleep in death Friday, October 4, 2024. She was born November 25, 1947 in Burlington, NC to John William Haith and Alice Thompson Crittle. Dorothy had fond memories of living in North Carolina, Virginia, and California but it was the city of New Orleans that she called home for 40 years. She relocated to Commerce, GA after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

On January 24, 1972, she married the late Pedro J. Sede, Jr and from their union she bore four children – Erica, Nataki, Pedro III, and Baker. Dorothy can best be described as “naturally introverted – selectively extroverted.” When she embraced you as a friend, you had a loyal, dependable person in your life to the end. Dorothy’s heartfelt determination was to be pleasant company even when she was in pain. She never complained, she was always more concerned with the comfort of others than her own. She expected nothing, but appreciated everything you did for her. Her voice, her laughter, the subtitles on her face that spoke louder than words, her self-sacrificing and generous spirit will be missed. The lessons she taught will be treasured and never forgotten.

The greatest lesson she hoped you would learn from her life is the importance of coming to know and have a relationship with the only true God, Jehovah. Through a careful study of the Bible, with the assistance of her two dear friends, Dorothy found the Bible’s satisfying answer to all of her questions. Convinced she found the truth, Dorothy symbolized her dedication to God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in November 1985.

She faithfully worshiped with her spiritual family as a member of the Esplanade Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Orleans, Louisiana for many years. After relocating to Commerce, GA she was a member of the Commerce Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses until her death.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Edith Ronnie Sawyer and Frances Bernice Jackson, one brother Philip Crittle, one granddaughter Aaliryah Sede and one great-granddaughter Farrah Hart-Sede.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four children Erica Sede, Nataki (Christopher) Boykin, Pedro (Angela) Sede, III, and Baker Sede. Her two grandchildren Hasan (Ashley) Hart-Sede and Ebonee Bradley. Her four great-grandchildren Faith, Ezra, and Ezekiel Hart-Sede and Jaliya Lofton.

She is survived by six siblings: Glenda Banks, Charles (Sheryl) Crittle, Lisha Pinnix, Donna Crittle, William Keith Crittle and Angel Brown and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews as well as her spiritual family of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world.

A Virtual Memorial Service will be held in her honor Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 4pm EST
