Doreen Knight

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Doreen Ann Knight (Crilly) on July 21,2025 at the George Boyack Carewest Home in Calgary, at the age of 85 years.

Doreen was born on Aug 21, 1939, in Calgary, AB. and grew up on the family farm northwest of Langdon. Growing up on the farm Doreen loved to ride horses with her brothers and sister and enjoyed the outdoors.

Doreen went to school in Langdon and then finished high school in Strathmore where she met John and they married in 1960 and settled down not far from where she grew up. Together they built their life on the farm working alongside each other celebrating 60 years of marriage until John’s passing in 2021.

Doreen loved a good joke and was happy to visit over coffee when anyone stopped by. She was very involved with the 4-H program with her children and then with her grandchildren, by never missing an event that they were involved in. Doreen volunteered with Aggie Days at the Calgary Stampede for many years and also enjoyed showing cattle at various shows across Alberta with her family over the years.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents Emily and Gordon Crilly, brothers Bill and Tom and husband John Knight.

She will be lovingly remembered by her 3 daughters, Laurie (Jeff) Miller, Donna (John) Rockafellow, and Susan Peterson; 8 grandchildren, Kristin (Sean), Jennifer (Russ), Hayden (Nicole), Clinton (Chelsea); Connie, Tyler (Lucianna); Peyton and Grady. Great grandchildren Rhett, Allie & Riley Miller, Chloe Hermansen and Reece Miller.

Left to celebrate her life is sister Betty Hilton and numerous other family members and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Hope Community Covenant Church (245 Brent Blvd, Strathmore, AB) at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Wheatland & Area Hospice Society in Doreen’s memory.
