Donna Marie Armstrong
Born June 19, 1945, in Atlantic City, NJ
Passed away on July 30, 2025, while surrounded by her family.
Donna was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a member of St. Michael’s Church of Atlantic City, NJ.
She is predeceased by her parents, Mary “Adele” and William “Army” Armstrong; her grandparents, Esther and Sylvester Racks; her brothers, Eugene Toomey, William “Ashley” Armstrong; and sister, Barbara “Ann” Toomey; her aunt, Dorthy Stokes (Thaddius) and her daughter, Tracey Renee’ (Armstrong) Ross.
Mom, as she is affectionally called by her family, is survived by her son, Rodney Armstrong (Simonia); grandchildren, Tobias Ross Jr, Ryan Ross, Savaun Ross, Krystal Armsrtong, DeSean Wilson (Brittney), Tameka Armstrong, Matthew Switzer, and Tylan Marsh; her great grandchildren, DeSean Jr, Lalah, Lailani, and Nevaeh; special family members, Joseph Flanagan Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As a lifelong resident of Atlantic City, Donna attended the Atlantic City Public School system including being a member of the 1963 graduating class from Atlantic City High School. After graduation she took courses at Atlantic Cape Community College.
Like many other city residence Mom entered the local work force early by working for multiple laundry services, such as Consolidated Laundry which was located on the northside of Atlantic City. She later became a seamstress working in Egg Harbor City. While providing for her two children, Donna began working within the Pleasantville school system as a teacher’s aide. She then began working at Two Guys. Finally, Donna retired after 30 years of service as a casino dealer and dual rate supervisor from the Claridge Casino.
In her leisure time Donna enjoyed playing cards, watching old western movies, movies from 1970’s were a particular favorite. She enjoyed her daytime soap operas, Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, and Beyond the Gates, and she also enjoyed primetime police and fire dramas.
Mom Donna’s very favorite pastime was to be surrounded by her family and friends for cookouts, holidays, or just any day you happened to stop by.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 1pm to 5pm at The Soldiers Home, 1510 Adriatic Avenue, Atlantic City.
The family has entrusted Jennings Funeral Home with the cremation.
