Dieter Wedemeyer

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Dieter’s deepest desire became a reality. He went to his permanent home in heaven with Jesus. Quite often Dieter used to say, “When this earth-suit that I occupy ceases to function, I will go to heaven and be with my precious Savior, Jesus Christ, forever.” After years of struggle with heart disease, memory loss, and other physical issues, Dieter passed from this life and entered eternal life in heaven with Jesus, where he is healthy, whole, and happy.
In Hamburg, Germany, on March 21, 1948, Dieter was the first-born child of Helmut and Inge Wedemeyer. After experiencing the horrors of World War II, his parents decided in 1957 that life would offer more opportunities for their children if their family moved to Canada. His parents settled the family in Vancouver, where Dieter grew up with his siblings.
After graduation from high school in 1967, Dieter worked for a period of time in Salmon Arm, B.C., after which he was able to obtain an apprenticeship with the government of British Columbia to become a licensed heavy-duty mechanic. He was successful with that endeavor and earned his Red Seal endorsement. After working various places during his apprenticeship, he settled down in Dawson Creek and worked for the Department of Highways as well as Peace Country Maintenance, the contractor after the Department of Highways privatized.
May 1, 1983, was when Dieter made a decision that changed his life. He chose to accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ on that Sunday night. Instantly, his life changed for the better. He lost the foul language that often came out of his mouth as well as his quick temper. The men at his workplace were stunned with the change in him the following Monday morning. He had found peace with Jesus.
On June 29, 1985, he married the love of his life, Teena. They continued to love each other until death parted them. They had many different adventures during their time together.
The most important person in Dieter’s life was Jesus Christ. He found peace and the promise of eternal life in heaven with Jesus. He loved Jesus more than life itself. He is now blissfully happy, safe in the arms of Jesus. What he wanted so much was to go to his permanent home with Jesus in heaven and now he has had his desire fulfilled. His favorite Bible verses are found in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Dieter was predeceased by his parents Helmut and Inge; his aunt Trudy (Heinz) Missing; his cousin’s husband Heiko Stille; and his parents-in-law Charles and Charlotte Slusser.
Dieter leaves behind his loving wife Teena; his sister Ursula; his brother Gary (Rosemary); his niece Cayla (Jon); his cousin Sabine Stille; and his sister-in-law Kay Jones (and her family).
Teena wishes to thank all the medical and support staff at the hospital and at Rotary Manor for their kind and compassionate care during Dieter’s last days. They all went above and beyond what was required to make him comfortable and to support Teena through this journey. Staff, you made a difference that will be remembered with a grateful heart. May God bless you as you continue to care for those who are suffering.
For those who wish to honor Dieter’s memory or to express sympathy, a donation to The Salvation Army, Family Services, #40, 11000 – 8th Street, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 4K6, would be appreciated. Please refrain from sending flowers as Teena is allergic to the scent of some flowers.
To respect Dieter’s wishes, there will be no funeral or celebration of life service.
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium
