Our hearts overflowing with love and gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Diane Kay Deutsch, age 82, of Gilbert, Arizona, who left this world on August 21st, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family.
A celebration of Diane’s remarkable life will begin on Thursday, August 28th, with visitation at 5:00 pm in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, followed by the Rosary at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29th, at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chandler, Arizona. A private family interment will follow at a future date.
Diane was born on October 24th, 1942, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Kay and Alvin Deaver. After her early years in Nebraska, her family moved to Arizona, where Diane graduated from Xavier High School and attended Phoenix College. In October 1967, Diane married her soulmate and lifelong partner, Don Deutsch. Together they built a beautiful, faith-filled life raising six children—Suzanne, Donny, Jimmy, Maryanne, Jennifer, and Julianne—their pride, joy, and greatest legacy.
Diane poured her heart into everything she did. She began her career at First Interstate Bank in Scottsdale but soon broadened her gifts into new paths. With an adventurous and creative spirit, she embraced opportunities—from running a giftshop to designing parade floats—always infusing her work with generosity and vision. Most profoundly, her passionate calling led her to advocacy. Where, as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), she became a powerful, outspoken champion for foster children. With courage and compassion, she gave voice to those who had none.
Diane’s faith was the constant thread through all she touched. A devoted member of many East Valley Catholic parishes, she shared her time, her talents, and her love for community. She nurtured, encouraged, and inspired with her laughter, her honesty, and her strength.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Don; their six children; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister Suzanne; her brother Michael; and a wide extended family of nieces, nephews, relatives, and treasured friends. To each, Diane gave unwavering love and the unshakable sense that they mattered.
Bold, compassionate, endlessly creative, and unafraid to speak her mind, Diane lived with authenticity and heart. She loved deeply, gave generously, and left behind a legacy of faith, courage, and devotion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Diane’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or CASA of Arizona—organizations close to her heart.
Diane will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved—a devoted wife, extraordinary mother, joyful grandmother, loyal sister, and true friend. Her warmth, wisdom, and example remain a light we will carry always. We love you, Mom.
