DETR April Statistics: unemployment 4 percent in Carson, 4.2 in Reno, 5.6 statewide

According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) April 2025 economic report, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.6 percent in April 2025 which decreased by 0.1 percentage point (pp) from March 2025.

Seasonally adjusted estimates account for regularly seen economic patterns, with the following estimates not seasonally adjusted.

In the three Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA), the unemployment rates were 5.2 percent in the Las Vegas area, 4.2 percent in Reno, and 4 percent in the Carson area in April 2025.

In Nevada’s counties, the lowest unemployment rate was in Elko County at 3.6 percent, and Mineral County had the highest rate at 9 percent.
