Delores “Dee” St. John
Delores “Dee” Marie St. John, 89, of Sterling, Colorado passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Sterling. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10th from 4pm to 6pm at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11th at 10:30am at Tennant Funeral Home with Pastor Cameron Harms officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Dee was born on May 21, 1936 in Sterling to Martha (Heinz) and Emanuel W. Miller. She attended Atwood and Sterling Schools. Dee was a homemaker but also held several secretarial positions throughout her life. On May 13, 1952, Dee married William “Bill” H. St. John, the two celebrated 73 years this May.
Dee loved sports and physical activity. She played softball in her younger years and later took up bowling, bike riding, and walking. Not just a short walk, but for close to an hour. She would sometimes have to take a break for her dog to rest before completing the walk. She became an avid golfer and excelled at it.
Dee attended church throughout her life, but in 1999, made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Sterling, CO. Dee was such a fun person. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and all who knew her can attest to that. She had a sweet and nurturing nature and she will be dearly missed.
Dee is survived by her husband Bill St. John, daughter Debra Riggi (Arlin) of Brighton, CO; son, William “Bill” D. St. John of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Rhonda Schierholz (Kevin) of Sterling, CO; son, Ted St. John (Michelle) of Windsor, CO; sisters-in-law, Connie Miller of Sterling, LaVaughn Holloway of Goochland, VA; brother-in-law, Don Dittler of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren, Matt Bone (Trillanee), Jessica Gernentz (Chad), Cortney Riggi, Jackie Griego (Lee), John St. John, Collin Shanks (HwanSuk), Jared Schierholz, Michael St. John, Shannon Johnson (Josh), Jeremy St. John, Jayna St. John; granddaughter-in-law, Angie Michael; 12 great-grandchildren; Jacob Bone, Niko Gernentz, Greta Gernentz, Mya Riggi, Liam Pollard, Elle Griego, Patrick Griego, Kendall Bergstrom, Noah Shanks, Leah Shanks, Judah Johnson, Tristan Johnson; 3 bonus great-grandchildren, Elliot Bergstrom, Chandler Bergstrom, Gus Bergstrom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Emanuel and Martha Miller, sisters, Helen Miller, Gloria Dittler; brothers Donald, Edward, and Harry Miller; grandson Chad Shanks; granddaughter, Jamie Riggi; daughter-in-law, Carol St. John; sisters-in-law, Patty Miller, LaVerne Dressor; brothers-in-law, Roy Holloway, Bill Dressor; nephew, Rod Miller.
