Delia Ramos

In Loving Memory of

Delia Ramos

March 24, 1933 – July 27, 2025

Delia, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 92.

She was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico, on March 24, 1933. After marrying Ramon, a U.S. Army veteran, the couple moved to New York and had two children, Ray and Doris. When Delia became a single mother, she raised her children with strength and resilience in Spanish Harlem, supported by a loving family of grandmothers, aunts, cousins, and her former husband’s family.

Delia worked in the garment industry in Midtown Manhattan. Her natural beauty and graceful presence made her stand out, and she was often asked to model hats for visiting buyers. In the 1970s, she married Ismael and moved to Queens, where she lived a vibrant and fulfilling life. She loved to cook, shop at Macy’s, and always took pride in her appearance—a quality she passed on to her children.

Delia and Ismael enjoyed quality time at their vacation house in Puerto Rico, where family would often gather to visit and vacation together. Surrounded by love, they created long-lasting memories for all. Delia especially loved to cook paella, filling the home with warmth, delicious food, and joy.

Delia was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and the cherished great-grandmother of fifteen. She was also a devoted sister, with four brothers and four sisters in Puerto Rico, to whom she offered love, strength, and wisdom throughout her life. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Ray, who passed away two years ago.

In her final years, Delia was lovingly cared for at Regal Heights Nursing Home. She was rarely without the presence of her devoted daughter Doris, as well as two compassionate caregivers, Myriam and Paola. Myriam, who had been with the family for many years, knew Delia deeply and visited often. Paola also cared for her at home and continued to visit on weekends, offering unwavering kindness and support. Both women were blessings to Delia and her family.

Special thanks are extended to the dedicated staff on the 5th floor of Regal Heights—especially Nabbi and Regina—for their care and concern, which brought great peace of mind to those who loved her.

Delia was a woman of elegance, strength, and fierce love for her family. Her spirit, style, and presence will live on in the many lives she touched.

“I thank God for having you for 92 years. I was blessed to be your daughter. I combed your hair, I kissed you, and I cared and honored you to the end.”

– Doris

In Our Hearts

We thought of you today.

But that is nothing new.

We thought about you yesterday,

And days before that too.

We think of you in silence,

We often speak your name.

Now all we have are memories,

And your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake,

With which we’ll never part.

God has you in His keeping,

We have you in our heart.
