Deborah Jo Fry, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the age of 74.
Deborah was born the daughter of Richard and Merita (Barker) Washburn on April 27, 1951 in Enid, Oklahoma.
Deborah was a compassionate soul, known for her generous heart and her unwavering support to those she loved. She was a beacon of love and strength, whose impact on those she encountered was truly transformative. Her caring disposition and warm smile were the epitome of her loving nature, creating a nurturing atmosphere for all around her.
Deborah had a remarkable career as an executive secretary in the aircraft industry, where her dedication and hard work were highly valued. Her professional accomplishments speak volumes about her passionate commitment and integrity. But it was her personal hobbies and interests that truly defined her. Deborah had a flair for cooking, delighting her friends and family with her culinary creations. Her love for the outdoors was infectious, with fishing, boating, and camping among her favorite pursuits. She also lent a hand to her late husband Chuck in his shop, further demonstrating her supportive and generous nature.
Survivors include her daughters, Tracie Clark; and Allison (Clifton) McLain; grandchildren: Jessica (Cody) Whaley; Elizabeth (Patrick) Lecounte; Austin (Katy) McLain; Taylor (Khloe) McLain; Logan McLain; Cody Delancey; Samantha Fry; great grandchildren: Cheyenne Weber; Mya Roeder; Isla McLain; Cooper Schroer; Aris McLain; Amren Lecounte; siblings, Janet Johnson; and Richard Washburn, along with numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Washburn and Merita Washburn-Hutchison; husband, Chuck Fry; son, Billy Fry; and grandson, Charles Scott.
A viewing will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1030 Mission Rd., Wellington, Kansas 67152.
Graveside services for Deborah will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.
Memorial contributions can be given in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 535 W. Douglas Ave, #150, Wichita, Kansas 67213. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
