Deanne Martin

Deanne C. Martin, 86, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was born in Rome on January 24, 1939, a daughter of the late Lewis and Wanda (Marshall) Cable. Deanne was a 1957 graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School. She was married to the late Richard Martin.

Deanne worked for many years as the office manager at the dental practice of Dr. Donald Washburn, DDS, from which she retired. Earlier in life she enjoyed driving a school bus. A woman of faith, she was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church and deeply committed to her church community. She was active in the Grandmother’s Club (Ya-Ya Club), the Mimosa Twig of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Fort Stanwix Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Creative by nature and known for her quick wit and warm sense of humor, Deanne loved crafting—especially crocheting and working with yarn—and made countless Christmas ornaments and handmade gifts. She loved a good party, always made time for her friends, and especially cherished their company. At home, she adored the companionship of her beloved dog, Kimmy.

Deanne is survived by her son, David Marcelletta; her sister, Beverly Carrado; grandchildren, Jason Marcelletta (Shannon), Julie Marcelletta, and Allyson Marcelletta; great-grandchildren, Owen, Brian, Cole, Madison, and Mary Ann; step-children, Rick Martin (Tatiana), Michael Martin (Deborah), Kevin Martin (Peggy), Timothy Martin (Theresa), and Mary Formikell (Mike); thirteen step-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Mitzi Marcelletta; special friend, Barb Smith; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Todd Marcelletta; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Marcelletta; and brother-in-law, Mario Carrado.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 22, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James St., Rome, NY 13440. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Rome Humane Society or the local chapter of the American Cancer Society in Deanne’s memory.
