David Lee

David Lee Blankenhorn, born Nov 8th, 1950; also known as David Lee, passed away on October 24th, 2024. He was born in Los Angeles, California and was raised in the San Fernando Valley.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Leah (Fleischman) Blankenhorn; and his father, Vernon Leroy Blankenhorn. He is survived by his daughter, Stacie Blankenhorn Shook, and her spouse Christopher; his brothers: Craig, Neal, and Corey; sisters: Jill and Kay; and nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
David proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged in 1971 and received a National Defense Service Medal.
In the early 1970’s, David moved to Eugene, Oregon with his family and lived there for more than two decades. He attended the University of Oregon, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science and was a lifetime member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. After graduation, David worked and lived in many states, until he settled down in the Bay Area.
David excelled in the data analyst field in the 90’s and continued his education and work as a business analyst, project manager, and a specialist in supply chain management. He retired from Bayer Healthcare, Inc. in 2017.
David was an avid runner throughout his life and enjoyed bike riding as well as strategic games, such as backgammon and chess. Halfway through his life, he picked up the game of golf with enthusiasm and played as much as possible. The highlight being a coveted hole-in-one!
David loved music; classical, jazz, blues, indie pop, and rock & roll to name a few. ‘The Tragically Hip’ was his favorite band, and he saw many their live shows. He loved following sports as well as participating in them; among his favorite teams were the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Francisco 49ers, the Golden State Warriors, the Portland Trailblazers, and the University of Oregon Ducks.
David lived a full life and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. At this time, there is no formal memorial service scheduled. He will be interred at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
