Daniel Ledley

Daniel J. Ledley, a lifelong Brewster, NY resident, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday October 18, 2025, at the age of 86. During his last days, he was visited and comforted by family members and friends, knowing he was well loved and honored throughout his long life.

Daniel was born February 14, 1939, in New York, NY, son of the late LeRoy W. and Wanda (Haigh) Ledley. He graduated from Brewster High School in 1956 and on October 7, 1961, he married Patricia Farrell in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster. Daniel owned and operated Ledley Food Service in Brewster from 1958 to 1992, when his son Brian took over the business. From his early days selling coffee and donuts at his store front on Main Street and from his coffee trucks visiting businesses and job sites around Putnam County, to the catering business he grew from humble roots, he knew no strangers and greeted everyone with a firm handshake and a smile. He later owned and operated Norm’s Old Homestead from 1986 to 2012, offering friends, families, and newcomers food, drink, and laughs.

His love for Patricia was profound, as was the love for his large family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a passionate fan of Notre Dame sports, and enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and telling wonderful and hilarious stories from his life. A true raconteur.

Daniel was predeceased by his wife Patricia on August 17, 2006. He is survived by his daughter Colleen Ledley of Ithaca, NY; sons Brian and his wife Patti of Brewster, NY, Kevin Ledley of Seattle, WA, D.J. and his partner Janet Schult of Brewster, NY, Michael Ledley and his wife Jennifer, his sister Kathryn Bisso of Mesa, AZ, sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was recently predeceased by his brother Wayne Ledley.

A funeral service will take place Friday October 24, 2025, at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY at 10:00 am. The interment will follow in St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
