Danae Wise

Danae Dana Wise was born on September 18th, 1941, in Stockton, California to Glen Howard Dana and Sybil Johnson Dana and was the oldest of their 5 children. She returned to our Heavenly Father on July 29th, 2025 at home in American Fork, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was 83 years old.

Danae grew up in Tracy, California and moved to Utah to pursue further education at Utah State University, graduating with a Masters in Child Development. She used her degree for many years, teaching people of all ages, from elementary school to college. After graduation she met and married Roger B. Wise on October 5, 1967. They are the parents of 5 children.

Danae had an artistic soul. She was a gifted pianist and a talented artist, with a passion for watercolor in her later years. Danae also had a green thumb and had many plants around her home. She was a published author, writing about her experience with her fathers Alzheimer’s. She was an avid reader, and always had a book nearby.

Danae loved having a beautiful home. She had impeccable taste in art and decor. In her later years, she was the creator of much of the artwork that adorned the walls of her home.

Danae loved people and shared her talents freely, often accompanying musical numbers on the piano, and playing for many choirs at church and in the community. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings in the church and had a strong testimony of the restored gospel. She played the organ for weekly services for many years. She loved serving others.

Danae and Roger served 18 months in the Nauvoo Mission from 2012-13. Danae conducted tours of historical sites throughout the day and played the piano every other night for the “Rendezvous at Old Nauvoo” program in the Cultural Hall. After returning, they served for 3 years in the American Fork Hospital, assisting staff and patients in their worship of the Savior on a weekly basis.

Danae was an advocate for education and taught her children in her home for many years. She and Roger both served on the board of the Utah Home Education Association.

Danae is known for her love of her children and all she associated with. She had a knack of making people feel comfortable and accepted. She created an atmosphere in her home where everyone was welcomed with warmth and love.
