Cory “ Wedo “ Lusk left for heaven on Oct. 29 ,2025 in Lubbock , Tx He was 44 years old. Cory was born in Lubbock Texas on June 14,1981 to the late Dwight W. Lusk and Christy A. Bowman. He graduated from Petrolia High School in 1999 and attended Vernon College for 2 yrs. and graduated from Texas Careers in 2008 with his electrical degree.
Cory was very passionate about sports, and it showed through his sports teams and his refereeing of sports .
He started SouthWest Hoops Basketball League in which he coached Code Red , Texas Chargers, and his Slaton Tigers . Boys Of Fall was so special to him .He started South Plains Ironman Football League in which he coached his beloved Slaton Tigers .
His Challenger Sports League was for children with disabilities which he created for his Baby Girl Micah .
Coach Cory loved to help and mentor our youth and helped many to succeed. Music made his heart dance , Lubbock and surrounding areas will forever know and remember “ D.J. Slick “.
Cory is preceded in death by his father Dwight W. Lusk and his grandparents OV and Agnes Boman .
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Michelle Lusk daughters Micah Lusk of Wilson, Tx , Alexa Ortiz of Burkburnett, Tx. son Kobe Daye of Wichita Falls , Tx. His bonus kids Trizton Robinson of Lubbock, Tx and Domenique Escobar of Wilson , Tx.
His parents Zack and Christy Ward of Wichita Falls Tx. brothers Brian Lusk of Midland , Tx , Lance ( Chelsea ) Ward of Baltimore Maryland, sister Kelsey ( Cory ) Ford of Vernon Tx. nieces Erin Ward of Baltimore Maryland , Makynlie and Hadlyn Harding , Anslee De Ford and nephew Case Pirtle all of Vernon , Tx.
Cory will be dearly missed so very much by many family members and special friends .
