Connie “Concepcion” Hinojosa Alleruzzo
March 21, 1929 – May 2, 2025
Connie Alleruzzo died peacefully at her home in Pasadena on May 2, 2025. Connie was born in San Antonio, Texas to Bentura Hinojosa and Lucia Montejano Hinojosa.
As a young child, the family moved to Pasadena, California. Thereafter, she attended McKinley School in Pasadena.
Later, she met a handsome Italian young man by the name of Marco. It was love at first sight for him and he pursued Connie and was smart enough to woo her mother Lucia, with rabbits.
On August 11, 1946, Connie and Marco married. They were married for 70 years. His loving family included 5 children – Giovanni “John” Alleruzzo (Elizabeth), Mario Alleruzzo, Nancy Tillman (Jack-deceased), Regina Alleruzzo (Fabiana Spinelli), and Francesco Alleruzzo. Grandchildren – Maya Alleruzzo, Alex Alleruzzo, Rico McCarty, Gino McCarty, Candice Alleruzzo, and Alyssa Alleruzzo (deceased). Great-grandchildren – Layla and Nicolas. Connie leaves many loved nieces and nephews as well as dear family friends, including a loving caregiver Jennie Presten.
Connie loved gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking, and playing the piano and guitar. As a young woman, she worked at a shoe factory, plastics factory and a laundry service. In later years, she worked as a home aide and also drove the YWCA van for their sewing club.
Connie was an excellent cook – from tamales to menudo, and many Italian dishes. She enjoyed being a part of the Golden Girls club and loved her lifelong friends.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She found peace in her garden. She experienced joy, love and happiness in her family and friends.
