From the City of Yerington:

** Boil Water Notice Issued to select Residents in Mason **

Unfortunately at about noon today, we received a report of a severe water leak in Mason off of SR-339. A main had to be shut off to process a repair, and that means we are mandated to issue a Boil Water Notice to the impacted residents to ensure no contaminants were introduced to our water system.

I’ve attached a map for reference, the residents within the yellow hash marks are the properties affected. We begin the sampling process and once two samples are cleared by outside testing, the boil water notice will be rescinded.

Homes in the impacted area received physical notices to their doors and bottled water was delivered.

The cause of the leak was a crew of contract workers, who inadvertently struck a pipe while digging.
