Christopher Hunter

Christopher Wayne Hunter, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the age of 42.

Chris was born the son of Johnny and Janice (McLaughlin) Hunter on May 26, 1982 in Wichita, Kansas.

Chris, a spirited soul and a true original, had an infectious sense of humor and zest for life. As a creative mind, he was never far from his next project, whether it was a clock that needed fixing, a Lego set waiting to be assembled, or a car engine begging for an upgrade. His passion for tinkering was only surpassed by his love for his residendents and coworkers as a CNA at Cumbernauld Village, where his funny and caring nature made him a beloved figure.

Chris was a man of many talents and interests, but his most distinguishing trait was perhaps his insatiable thirst for his fountain drink of Mt. Dew Code Red (with 13 pieces of ice) – a companion as constant as his playful spirit. His musical prowess, honed through years of playing multiple instruments in the Winfield school band, added another layer to his vibrant personality. Always the practical joker, Chris’s big and interesting personality left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Chris is survived by his siblings, Gim (Kerri) Hunter; Courtney Hunter; Elizabeth Hunter; nieces: Maycee (Chris) Whalen; Ragan (Braiden) Hunter; Layla Hunter; nephews: Dakoda Hasch; Isaac Hasch; Tayden Hunter; great nephew, Cassius Whalen; honorary son, Gunner Baker; and long time friend, Kayla Watts; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Janice Hunter.

A visitation for Chris will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas, 67152.
