Charles Lee Atkinson, age 73, of Leon, Iowa, the second of fourteen children born to Oliver Crockett and Thelma Mae (Thompson) Atkinson, was born March 6, 1952, at Blairstown, Missouri. He passed away on April 27, 2025, at Lamoni Specialty Care in Lamoni, Iowa.
Charles grew up and attended school at Holden, Missouri. He worked various jobs over the years.
His favorite pastime was fishing. He enjoyed walking, listening to country music, watching westerns on TV, and eating fried chicken. He was in a relationship with Julie Keith Foland for several years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Maxine Martin; and his friend, Julie Foland. Survivors include his twelve siblings and their spouses, Thomas & Alma “Weggie” Atkinson of Odessa, Missouri, Sandra Atkinson of Warsaw, Missouri, Virginia & Forrest Grant of Calhoun, Missouri, Floyd Atkinson of Butler, Missouri, Raymond Atkinson of St. Joseph, Missouri, Bonnie Green of Blue Springs, Missouri, Shirley & Gale Pittman of St. Francis, Kansas, Jeannie Thieme of Chillicothe, Missouri & friend Jim Baker of Lucas, Iowa, twins Jennifer & Eric Masoner of Warsaw and Rick & Missy Moran of Blue Springs, Aiden & Bonnie O’Brien of Garfield, New Jersey, and Michael & Connie Atkinson of Davis City, Iowa; brother-in-law, Gene Martin of Warsaw; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
His family appreciates the good care he received at Lamoni Specialty Care.
